The Maternal and Child Health Bureau MCHB is dedicated to strengthening public health systems with the m of ensuring the physical and mental well-being of America's mothers, children, and families. We support more than 61 million pregnant individuals, infants, and children, including those who require special healthcare needs. Our initiatives are designed to:
Guarantee that every mother, baby, child, and youth receive appropriate health care
Encourage the creation of national guidelines for women's and children's checkups as well as newborn screenings
Equip public health professionals with trning tlored specifically to maternal and child health populations' requirements
Respond to the pressing maternal health crisis through the establishment of the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline: 1-833-TLC-MAMA 1-833-852-6262
We are committed to achieving our goals by:
Investing $2 million in the Center for Maternal and Child Health Medicd Partnerships, which strengthen collaborations between key federal programs and state services.
Allocating approximately $2.4 million towards diverse organizations to develop innovative policies that address non-medical factors like housing, transportation, education influencing maternal and child health.
Explore our funding opportunities through a variety of open and upcoming initiatives, including the webinar designed for guidance on grant application processes.
Our data and research capabilities help us collect information, conduct studies, and evaluate program outcomes, enabling us to improve our efforts and inform policy decisions.
We are devoted to complementing existing programs with new ones that respond to emerging challenges affecting maternal and child health populations.
In addition, we offer comprehensive trning opportunities in the field of maternal and child health for both formal education purposes and workforce expansion. We also foster diversity and inclusivity among healthcare professionals by offering our education and trning programs.
