In addition to the rich clinical experiences, didactic learning, and research opportunities that are tlored to each of our subspecialty fellowships within Rnbow Babies Children’s Department of Pediatrics, we also offer a variety of educational resources and research programs designed to enhance the professional development and community building among fellows across various disciplines. Our fellows benefit from the RBC Fellows' Core Curriculum series - an annual program that complements the subspecialty-specific education provided by individual divisions and mentors. This comprehensive series equip fellows with a broad spectrum of knowledge essential for their careers, including topics such as High-Reliability Organizations Patient Safety, ResearchScholarship which includes multiple subtopics, Quality Improvement initiatives, Health Equity strategies, teaching methodologies, career planning advice, leadership skills development, and honing communication abilities.
Rnbow Babies Children’s offers specialized trning tracks accessible to all fellows based on their personal interests and career aspirations:
Global Health Track: This track focuses on understanding global health issues, fostering international collaborations, and learning how to impact global healthcare systems.
Medical Education Track: med at those interested in teaching or education-focused careers, this track covers curriculum development, assessment strategies, educational research, and pedagogical techniques.
Quality Improvement Track: For fellows passionate about improving patient care processes and outcomes, this track provides trning on tools like Lean methodologies, Six Sigma, and the Plan-Do-Study-Act PDSA cycle.
Advocacy Track: This track is designed for those who wish to advocate for healthcare policies, child welfare, or social justice issues impacting children.

Rnbow Pediatric Residency Program Conference Series: Fellows are invited to participate in dly conferences, engaging with emerging experts across various fields.
Department of Pediatrics Grand Rounds: A weekly series where faculty and guest speakers discuss the latest research findings and clinical developments.
Department of Pediatrics Multidisciplinary Morbidity Mortality Conference: Quarterly gatherings that facilitate deep discussions on patient care challenges and successes.
Ethics Schwartz Center Rounds: Sessions that delve into ethical dilemmas in healthcare, offering insights on navigating complex situations with compassion and integrity.
The Department of Pediatrics at Rnbow Babies Children’s is committed to fostering a culture of scholarly inquiry among fellows. We provide various resources for fellows who wish to engage in research:
Research Support Services: Access to a dedicated pediatric medical librarian Mandy Neudecker who offers assistance with literature searches, reference management software trning, and securing necessary books and articles.
Internal Grant Programs: The RBC Fellowship Research Award Program is specifically designed for our fellows. This annual program awards approximately $100,000 in funding to support scholarly projects developed by fellows at Rnbow Babies Children’s Hospital. Applications are reviewed to ensure a competitive selection process.
Statistical Support: Free access to statistical services that can help fellows analyze data and guide the direction of their research without additional costs.
To recognize and encourage fellow-led research, we host an annual RBC Fellows' Science Day event. This gathering provides a platform for fellows to showcase their work, receive feedback from peers and mentors, and hone presentation skills in a supportive environment.
